On Wednesday, she attended the Leimert Park Village Book Fair wrap-up meeting at the Los Angeles City Councilman’s Office and had lunch. Later, she was hospitalized, because of shortness of breath. She was able to return home that evening. On Thursday and Friday, she spoke with several friends sharing information about upcoming events in the community.

On Saturday morning, she shared that she was feeling tired. She took a nap and passed peacefully at approximately 9:45am on July 17, 2010.
